Is a problem with linux that there is now too many kernel developers?
Once upon a time kernel developers were indeed a hard core bunch
of dedicated hackers such as Alan Cox and Linus Torvalds, now
it seems that everyone wishes to get their latest patch included.
Compare this to the reletively small bunch of Free BSD kernel
hackers and we see a stark contrast not only in numbers but in
performance and security.

Whilst the Linux kernel offers a wider variety of support the fbsd
kernel seems to have a better grasp on load handling and with the
advent of 5.0, SMP support is geared up to be a new benchmark.

Is the limited number of kernel developers working in their favour
or is linux sacrificing core issues in favour of supportting a wider
hardware base?

Kind regards
Kevin
