Actually, GE has been ported natively rather than using wine. The win32
version used QT and other cross platform libraries, so it made sense to
use those natively in linux too.

The guy in charge of porting it isn't a big wine fan and used to work
for Loki who made native linux ports of games.

My experience with the Linux GE is that it works, except under my i915
GL drivers I get masses of flicker. I'm on deb unstable/xorg 7.something.
