Crashes are distro-dependent. Cinelerra is heavily in use by commercial companies; professional environments. You should ensure your copy is that of cinelerra-cv. I don't think, however, that there is anything to do about the ffmpeg quality. I may be entirely wrong. As for real-time duplex capture, could it have anything to do with hardware? Sorry, can't be of much help either - nearly clueless on video stuff.
