I am using M1 3G wireless broadband on the Broadband 2000 plan (promised download speed of upto 2MBps), using the Huawei E960 router. I am extremely unhappy with the speed and latency. Its not clear whether the device or the service itself is the culprit. I live in the city (Outram Park area), where good coverage might be expected.
I did some speed tests: the connection speed and latency to speedtest.net.sgseems ok, but to my own server in the same data-center is way below that. For me, using gmail is excruciatingly slow. Calling M1 tech-support resulted in them telling me to switch the router from 3G to GPRS mode. Yeah, right. I might as well use my phone as a modem, then. Actually, I wouldn't mind any suggestions from any slugs who have managed to make this service work better. I am stuck in a 24 month contract.
