Having personally released a patch which was integrated into the main Sane
SVN for the Canon Lide25 scanner circa Sept 2005, I can safely say that this
scanner *does* work under any recent version of Sane.
My suggestion is that this user grabs something like the latest Ubuntu
LiveCD and give that a spin. Ubuntu is excellent at detecting my Digital
Cameras and had no problem finding my Lide25. Without knowing exactly which
distro this user is having problems with, it's difficult to come up with a
proper response.
