Replying to myself, but what they heck! As luck would have it, I just spoke with someone who has those exact hardware and it worked out of the box with a Fedora 9 live CD I had. So, Stephan, looks like your patches made it in. I will write this up and reply to the poster. I will attribute the answer as being from slugnet.
