Tomi, What version of slurm are you using? I am also assuming you are using the slurmdbd as well. There is code in the current version (2.4) that prevents this from happening. It looks like this code was added in 2.3.2 patch a3bb2409. If you are using a current version it would be interesting if there are any logs you have during the times of these bad job_db_inx's. Do you happen to have any job_db_inx in your job table that has a -2 or is it only in the step table?
