We lost two APPO transformers even though they were plugged into a battery backup. That indicates to me the surge came from the radio side. Either that or the battery b/u unit did not work as it should have.

Hi, just thought I would chime in here. We have had problems with the Ethernet going dead in several units. We have found that the power supply must be on a UPS. A customer had 4 computers and the radio running on a 15A circuit in his house and lost two radios, we forced him to get a UPS for the radio and he has not had any more problems. These radios were both using a 13dBi Maxrad panel.
We have had a Total loose Ethernet recently; customer had a freezer running on the same circuit and is still having problems loosing connection with the temporary aBo and Maxrad 13dBi panel. The customer has not been able to put the unit on a UPS yet. I think the AC/DC adapter supplied by sB is not able to handle power inconsistencies.

Same
problem here. I can't say for all the sites that we've lost, but the last one
was using a grid. We had
Qty. 6 units die in the last month for the same reason&..the Ethernet side
of the units died. This nearly wiped us out as we weren t expecting such a
thing to happen. I m guessing here&..the units cannot withstand even small
amounts of transient current on the ethernet side. On outdoor units there is
typically a long run of Ethernet exposed to the open air allowing for the
opportunity for stray current to induce in the wire. Also, not only did our
radios blow on several units the hub/router on the other end blew as well. We
are in Albuquerque, NM so we have thunderstorm events, however none of our
sites were hit by lightning&it was the transient energy in the surrounding
atmosphere that did it, we think. On two units the A/C to DC transformers blew
as well. We lost APPO s in our infrastructure so it has taken several weeks to
get things back to working correctly.
