Just a question? Was the Ethernet Cabling shielded? [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- We had Qty. 6 units die
in the last month for the same reason…..the Ethernet side of the units
died. This nearly wiped us out as we weren’t expecting such a thing to
happen. I’m guessing here…..the units cannot withstand even small
amounts of transient current on the ethernet side. On outdoor units there is
typically a long run of Ethernet exposed to the open air allowing for the
opportunity for stray current to induce in the wire. Also, not only did our
radios blow on several units the hub/router on the other end blew as well. We
are in Albuquerque, NM so we have thunderstorm events, however none of our
sites were ‘hit’ by lightning…it was the transient energy in
the surrounding atmosphere that did it, we think. On two units the A/C to DC
transformers blew as well. We lost APPO’s in our infrastructure so it has
taken several weeks to get things back to working correctly. Bobby Bounds Airwave Internet, LLC Albuquerque, NM -----Original Message----- we have
had 3 units die from Ethernet port failure. Is this common? all units were
installed according to spec, and a APC Ethernet surge protector added for extra
protection. Antennas were all plastic but we put a ground wire on the connector
housing. (grounded antennas are code around here) |
