Please take no offense, but...

 

The terms "wireless bridge" and "bridge" each have multiple meanings. To blindly assume that something called airBridge will act like your definition of a wireless bridge is poor planning. The answers are in the freely available documentation, so it isn't fair to blame smartBridges. Afterall, do you think Pepsi is really the taste of a new generation? (BTW - Diet Dr. Pepper tastes like crap).

 

I understand that the term "bridge" itself is confusing. Even this definition from the TechWeb Encyclopedia is confusing:

 

Wireless Bridge: A device that connects two LAN segments together via infrared or microwave transmission. A wireless bridge is often used to span buildings and provides a more economical method than laying cable or leasing a private line. Wireless bridges generally require line of sight between transmitter and receiver.

Based on this definition, the airBridge can loosely be considered a wireless bridge, but only if used on the "receiver" side (a misnomer since both endpoints transmit and receive). It would just take an airPoint to be on the "transmitter" side.

 

Okay, now that I am done with the "definition of 'is'" portion of my email...

 

 

If you want to make a reliable PtP wireless bridge, go with two airPoint Pro Outdoors (or aP Totals). I have had great success with this setup. You will never get two aB's to work. The aP/aB combination will work if you are budget conscious, but the aP's do everything the aB's do and more.

You’ve got to be kidding me. They market a device that CAN’T be used as a wireless bridge as “airBridge”???

 

Please tell me you’re joking. These devices are already installed. I don’t even have the boxes they came in!!

Using two AB you can only talk between the two computers directly connected to the AB. You would need to install some form of routing software to send the traffic beyond the first computer. You miht give 'Internet Connection Sharing' built in to Windows a try. Otherwise sherch google for personal routing software. Another idea (don't know if it would work) is to install this way...   YourNetworkORComputer<-->Router<-->AB<--------->AB<-->OptionalRouter<-->ClientComputer

Can anyone help me?

 

All I want to is use the two airBridge TOTAL units that I bought as a simple Ethernet bridge (to link two physical Ethernet networks under the same subnet). If I set one (Unit A) in Infrastructure mode and the other (Unit B) in Ad Hoc mode, I am able to associate one with the other. This enables me to ping from Unit A to Unit B with no problem. I can even ping Unit B from a laptop on the same switch as Unit A. I cannot, however, ping any devices that are on Unit B’s physical network from Unit A.

 

I am going out of the country in six days and I must get this installation finished for my customer. Can anyone please tell me, step-by-step, how I setup the two devices to act as a bridge?

HEHE I wanted to see that why u no record for a america's funnies home videos :) Well I use 75$ belkin the blue one its not great cable but hasn't failed me yet I don't have any ports dieing as of month 2 of using it, shielded cable down here is too expensive we're talking up to 450$ for 1000 ft I cant afford that sorry :(

Actually, the gel is a water block and it keeps water from wicking along
the pairs if the jacket is damaged.
How would it get damaged? I once watched a woodpecker pounding away on a
