Dan, Any time that the receiver input becomes " overloaded " there will be considerable framing/packet errors, if not most all.
Put a dummy load, paper clip or nothing on the antenna output, if you are not going to take forever to configure the unit and I can tell you I have never had any of these problems to date. Pick a brand and model. Works, for sure, here.
