Joe:The reason is logically very simple. The maximum output is +17 dBm and the antenna is rated at 13 dBm.The total of the two added together is +30 dBm which is the maximum allowable EIRP in the USA.If they increase the antenna gain, they will have to decrease the output, since this transceiver unit is capableof multiple types of operation.Smartbridge is not going to bet on you, the installer, in Lufkin, turning down the power.R
