don't forget that the gain on a sector is the HIGHEST gain and the coverage degree indicate where the antanna gain from the sector have dropped 3dB.
But a 10dB is always 10dB. Sectors are better because they tend to give you say 12dB gain at main lobe and 9dB at their perimiters and can be downtilted a 12dB omni will give you 12dB all around but it's pattern will be so flat and you can not downtilt it. / Eje Friday, July 18, 2003, 9:56:27 PM, you wrote: g> a 10db omni will give you same range as a 10db sector no matter if its 60 g> deg, 90 deg or 120 deg. 10db gain is 10db gain... g> Gino g> ----- Original Message ----- g> From: "Kevin Summers" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> g> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> g> Sent: Friday, July 18, 2003 11:56 PM g> Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Sector antenna range vs omni >> >> Basically, for the same power antennas, let's say 10db omni >> and a 10db sector, basic logic suggests that a 180 degree >> sector would go twice as far as an omni, because the power >> that was directed all around, is now directed in half of >> that area.
