That is not entirely true. 8dB omni will give same range as a 8dB
sector if your right in front of the sector.
You would however have to use a 11dB sector to get 8dB at the outer
perimiters of that sector. So say a 90* sector when your at the 90*
mark your client will only see 8dB.
However with a sector you can easier get away from interference. if
your not serving customers in a 360* from your AP then doing a sector
probably is better that make sure you don't pick up to much
interference from the direction your not service any customers.

Also the sector can be downtilted so if you have interference coming
from the horizont you can downtilt your sector and shoot under or
maybe over. Which you can not do with a omni.
