I'd say there is a good chance of this. We use 'aerial' grade CAT 5 cable with the silicone grease inside the sheath. No, not shielded.

Any chance that static took the ethernet port out? Were you using shielded cable?

Kind Regards,

Well, I'll try this BUT I seriously doubt it will help. The unit has worked w/o incident since Saturday (today is Wed.). The ethernet is securely taped down to the roof mount so it can't move at all. I saw a post by SB earlier tonight that they are about to come out with a new and improved POE device which will, among other things address the issue of bad power supplies blowing out the ethernet circuitry of the radio. I'm just guessing here but I bet this may have happened (yet again) to us (insert sounds of wailing and knashing of teeth).

We've found that moving (jiggling) the Ethernet cable at the base of the unit sometimes get's them to come back.  We find the "magic" spot and secure the cable in whatever position it is in.

We bought Qty. 4 ABO's last week from Electro-Comm. Installed three of them so far. Tonight around 6PM, the one I installed on Sat. stopped passing traffic on the ethernet side. I can ping it from the wireless side, but not the wired side. Yes, I've tried to power cycle the unit (multiple times). The ethernet amber light on the unit is OFF.

So, does this mean the latest batches have the flaky ethernet port problem still???
