Not only are they reliable, but they are extremely versatile, and very 
inexpensive.  You can use an old PC.  All my StarOS boxes are old 350 MHz 
Pentium IIs that I picked up for $100 each.  By putting more radio cards 
(Orinoco or Prism) in a box, you can have multiple APs in the same machine.  I 
have three APs in one of my StarOS boxes.
