Check out APC, I will search for the exact parts to find what you are
looking for. Expect about $600-1000 though

Subject: [smartBridges] Remote Power Rebooters

Coincidentally, I have spent over 20 hours out of the past 28 hours
researching remote power rebooters. I MUST have them!

Let me tell you what I would LOVE to have:
An all-inclusive unit that contains 4-8 outlets (preferably powered by
one power cord). Before I go further, take a look at these to get an
idea of what I am looking for:
 http://www.baytech.net/cgi-private/product?catagory=DS-RPC+SERIES

That unit is almost there.

Then there is this one:
http://www.baytech.net/cgi-private/product?product=RPC3-15

Okay...continuing on with MY needs. I would LOVE to have a power
control unit that has the ability to assign a PING address to each
outlet. The power control unit would PING the associated IP at
specified intervals. When the unit becomes unresponsive, it reboots.
Simple as that. Some of these RPC (remote power controllers) are
close...but don't quite cut it. On top of this AUTO reboot ability
(with PING), I want both LAN (web) interface and dial-in interface (in
case the LAN side was down). I don't think I am asking for too
much...considering all of these products have the ability...just not all
in one box. I don't think?!??

So...I just keep trudging through the jungle we call the Internet. Here
are some more runner-UPS (no pun attended).
http://www.usacommunications.com/supp/tb-450.html
http://www.cpscom.com/reboot.htm
http://www.dataprobe.com/share/4pk415.html
http://www.remotepowerswitch.com/ <-- very cheap

I need these in place and working by Wednesday evening.

I also have some decent software that will do the IP pings and when
something is down will execute an .exe or .bat or even initiate a serial
communications (rs-232). http://www.paessler.com/ipcheck/features

So...now that it seems everyone is in the "giving mood"...maybe we could
all put our minds to this and find an "all inclusive" solution. BTW...I
have a close acquaintance (owner of one of the above companies) who is
willing to build the "all inclusive" device if one, there is no such
device, and two, we will buy it.

What do you all think.

Sully

Also check out the APC smartUPS line. You can put a IP interface on them
and
controll each outlet individualy as well as add enviornmental onitoring
to
it. ~$600 will give you enviornmental monitoring, web based management
and
monitoring, 4 ports and fair amount of reserve power and you can
schedule
events as well as respond to internal and external triggers.

That looks like a neat device, never seen anything like that. It might
help
out until we can figure out why the APPOs keep losing their Ethernet
port.
But I would have to have one on each APPO, so that's 4 of them at $275
each,
just to be able to reboot equipment that won't stay up. I do appreciate
the
information, though, I am sure it will be very useful and might be a
temporary way of controlling these things.

Thanks,
Gloria

There is an AC outlet in my NEMA box with the UPS plugged into it, a
power
strip into that, with all the power supplies and

shielded and gel filled, all cables tested with a cable tester after

on
the switch that is failing, but since we have had

exact problem? The only item that has not been replaced is the power
supply - could that be bad? All the other units on the

Sunday. They are all plugged into the same switch, which is plugged
into a
UPS and all of it is in an air conditioned NEMA box.
