I'm using 1 total as a back haul. It's AP is an old Aironet BR-500 used for the uplink. I've had it in this configuration for about 2 months and haven't had a problem with it yet. It feeds the main AP with nothing more than an ethernet cable in between them. From my house 4.5 miles away with marginal LOS I consistently get around 1200k of thruput. The uplink AP is fed by a single T-1.

Here is a basic diagram of the setup: Aironet AP --> Total --> ethernet --> APPO.

Can anyone tell me if they have used an Airbridge Total to backhaul to an
APPO in AP mode. I am trying to cut cost in the backhaul and just want to
use the bridge to AP then have the clients connect via other bridges to the
AP.

Question 2: I am up 200 ft with a 12 Dbi Omni and can only get about 2
miles NLOS and about 5 LOS. Anyone gotten further?

Question 3: Does anyone use splitters and AMPS the the AirBridge Outdoor
and APPO? What kind?

I'd say it is not new. I recently had two APPOs that started exhibiting this behavior after 6 months of perfect performance. It happened after I upgraded the firmware, and switched the operational modes, and everything went to pot. They exhibited the same behavior you are describing (except only when in access point mode - bridge or client modes were fine). Also, the ethernet "went away" for only about 10 minutes at a time, then would reappear.

I never got to the bottom of it - decided to stop wasting my time and
worked around it with other gear.
