All I can say is that we obviously had a language issue. Pardon my miss use of English. As you might or might not know English is NOT my original native language but rather Swedish is. English is being taught as a second language but first from 5th grade and I have lived in Sweden until 4 years ago.
As for snippy and pissed well when someone tell me to go read up on something I know very well them it's hard not to get a little bit snippy. I think I wasn't the only one that got a little bit snippy here because we both felt (with good reasons) that we know what we where talking about just that the language played us a trick causing us to misunderstand each other. My apologies. I'm no more great then to know when I should provide a apology and seems this is one of these times. My first post said 'I use a GPS and a compass... :)' DC> Your first post said: 'GPS will not tell direction...' >> when you >> later on agrees to what I said all a long.. sigh.. DC> Let's review... I started off by saying that 'I use a GPS and a compass'. DC> You started off by saying 'GPS will not tell direction...' and now that we DC> have come to agreement that you need both a GPS and a compass to do the job, DC> you say I have come around to YOUR way of thinking? Man, if that ain't DC> revisionist history... What I can't figure out is how you got it in your DC> head in the first place that I was saying that a GPS could show heading. I DC> never said that... DC> The whole thing stems from the use of the word(s) 'direction' or DC> 'directions'... neither of which really belong in a discussion of GPS or DC> navigation in general. The words generally used are course, heading and DC> bearing. They have specific meanings (unlike the more general 'direction') DC> and if you re-read my posts you will see that I used them correctly and that DC> every statement I made was true. DC> In hindsight, in your first post, when you said 'GPS will not tell DC> direction' you meant 'heading'. I responded thinking that you meant DC> 'bearing' when you said 'direction' because of your math instructions that DC> were designed to reveal the bearing. It became obvious in your second post DC> that you were using 'direction' to mean 'heading'. One I figured that out it DC> became clear we were both saying the same thing... >>You don't need to teach me how to use a GPS. DC> Well, like I knew that in advance... based on the evidence at the time, you DC> seemed to be claiming that a GPS would not give you bearing. Please forgive DC> me Oh Great One for presuming to know something and trying to share. My DC> instructions were given in the spirit of trying to help. You don't need to DC> get snippy about it.
