Hi Rick,
The reason why the Router/firewall is behaving in such a way is that it's not been configured properly. Please check the NAT settings (Network Address Translation) on the firewall and also see if there are any filters active. Other than these two things, the setup should work as normal.

I've got several other customers running exactly this same setup with no apparent problems. So it's not simply the firewall it would appear.
