I have 4 APs connected into one hub (yes, hub, not a switch. I used to use
a switch and then replaced it with a hub to do some sniffing at the tower.
Haven't changed it back yet. Even with the switch in place, it still
killed all traffic.)
If I plug my laptop into the hub, I can't ping aBs or client routers
(almost all my clients have DSL routers). They show that they've
associated, but they can't talk.
CPE <=> APO <=> |H|
CPE <=> APO <=> |U| <= FIBER => SWITCH <=> Backbone
CPE <=> APO <=> |B|
\-laptop
Not that the laptop is a factor either. When I switched the APs over,
customers said they couldn't get online, regardless of whether my laptop
was plugged in or not.
I also have one airPoint in clientBridge mode about 2.5 miles away from
the tower. It's plugged into a switch and that switch is plugged into
another airPoint in AP mode. 4 clients hang on that AP.
I don't know what fw version I'm running on the aPPOs, but it's 1.4j or
something like that. From March/April.
