As An American you do not see how other people
perceive you. By the way I now live in canada and am anxiously awaiting my
citizenship to this great country that has accepted me.
A Lot of people perceive you as "arrogant". And yet
here in these groups none of that "arrogance" appears.
I guess in other words be humble, your patriotic
fervour will shine thru in the little things that you do. Like a grain elevator
operation where I was on the eleventh coming to a standstill for that moment and
nobody complaining.
I think that in groups like this, that it is not
really country specific. For instance we have the crtc who will insist that even
after the fcc has fixed something that they must still do their own tests,
why not read the other one's findings/results. That is a waste of of tax payers
money.

Wish from P15
Carl,
Which fact that I layed out is incorrect?
Please feel free to point them out.
Regarding your statement "And what about the South African's who died fighting
"Communism" on behalf of the american people.", which part of
my statement denies the role of any other people in their fight for
democracy?
For the record, my statements (or my anger) were directed at
someone who started their email with "America
would get on better if". Given the subject matter and
the way this email was written, in my opinion, is offensive.
Again, for the record, I have not dismissed all the other veterans of
all these wars that fought for democracy. Clearly I believe they're
contributions are equally important. This is my point!
Perhaps in either my email or in your interpretation, this message was
lost. Yes, all the Allied Forces have sacrificed. Who would deny
this? I even said this in my email: "...for us Americans, Veteran's day is to remember all veterans that
fought..."
If you or anyone else would like to discuss this
further, please let's do this off-list since it is not appropriate
here.
Kind regards, Sevak Avakians

Let's not forget that for us Americans, Veteran's day is to
remember all veterans that fought to free countries like England, France,
South Korea, South Vietnam and now Iraq. Our brave men and women
fought these wars on OUR behalf FOR foreign peoples. These
men and women gave life, limb, and their innocence to the horrors of war
for people like us all over the world.
Please, recheck your history with an independant source, not all
your facts are correct If anyone has
a problem with the way this original post is worded, think twice about WHO
the Internet is! Yes, it is world-wide, and so has been our
battles! It may be Veteran's Day on an American calendar, but I'd
like to think that people in England, France, and other countries would
remember the Americans that have sacrificed for them!!
And what about the South African's who died fighting
"Communism" on behalf of the american people. I hate getting political on a forum like this where
politics DO NOT belong, but seeing this post from someone
"correcting" someone else inspite of their own mistakes angers me.
Wayland, if you think THIS is the change that would make "America get on
better" with other countries, then you have much to
understand!
Your anger is
misdirected, All the Allied forces Suffered much and we should be proud of
all the veterans in all the countries who gave us this democratic right to
disagree as we are doing right now. Sevak Avakians

Today the country
celebrates Veterans day, and on behalf of the all those in this
organization who have served in the military - in peace and in
war, at home and abroad - we would like to wish everyone a Happy
Veterans day. To quote President Eisenhower, today we "solemnly
remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the
seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of
freedom." This year, we celebrate Veterans day with over 120,000
troops in Iraq and 10,000 in Afghanistan - both active duty and
reserve troops, along with the thousands who serve every day
protecting American interests in South Korea, the Far East and Central
Europe. We see on a daily basis the best and the brightest
America has to offer serving in our Armed Forces, often separated from
their families for months and enduring tremendous physical hardships
on a daily basis. Today, we thank you for your service, and wish
you Godspeed and swift return to the safety of our shores and your
homes. Truly, we live in the land of the free and the home of
the brave.
Thank you
Michael R.
