Thanks to Graeme Gregory's work, it seems that X.Org 7.4 does not need any xorg.conf [1] (the whole thread at [2]). Since Otavio Salvador is already working on it [3], it could land in Debian very soon :-) [1] http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2008-November/035551.html [2] http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.handhelds.openembedded/19845 [3] http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.handhelds.openembedded/19845/focus=19912 > Another thing: if we provide an option to install Xglamo instead, this > file is not strictly necessary, but I will create it anyway to provide a > better experience when people will install X.Org instead. It also seems that Xglamo is already deprecated [4]: as I stated at [5], if this will become official (maybe it is already and I am too tired to understand it), I do not see any point in putting any new effort in Xglamo. This is especially true since Xglamo, while faster than X.Org, has bigger usability problems [6].
