Hi, There has been some discussion in other threads, but I'd like to hear user experiences on this subject specifically, which is using packages from squeeze exclusively vs. using newer packages from pkg-fso. I'm mostly using plain Debian main repository with linux-openmoko kernel from pkg-fso (or actually self-compiled andy-tracking trunk kernel in reality).
My experience: 1. fso-frameworkd + fso-config-gta02 from Debian testing, ousaged replaced with fsousaged in /etc/frameworkd.conf Stable, I like it. My switch to fsousaged is quite recent, I don't know (nor remember) if ousaged was the culprit for my only real problem I had which was the touch screen occasionally stopping to respond to touch with regards to lighting the display up. Maybe it got fixed by the switch since I haven't seen it now. Using fsousaged instead of ousaged did cause one problem, ie. Zhone has to be closed and started again when booting so that the PIN question works. 2. same as above, but configured to use fso-abyss instead of default gsm0710muxd Not getting to work, maybe simply because of old fso-frameworkd or something else? Reading auth status does not work, and I haven't figured out any frameworkd.conf combination which would work. 3. fso-frameworkd + fso-config-gta02 from pkg-fso, disabling opimd and if fso-abyss wasn't the default I switched to it. Using fsousaged as well. Works otherwise with all these latest stuff, but having problems - phone wasn't able to receive or make calls at some point later during a day, and this happened during a few days. In all configurations I've also changed ti_calypso_deep_sleep = never, since it's simply better for anyone without a #1024 fix and with a phone / environment that has the problem. In the end I had to switch back to 1. yesterday evening, which I'm indeed quite happy with but of course it's not the latest frameworkd nor using fso-abyss which is theoretically better, or at least newer than gsm0710muxd and it wouldn't hurt to get those working as well. Is there any chance that the current pkg-fso fso-frameworkd snapshot from 20090920 is simply outdated snapshot and what I experience are bugs that have been probably fixed since then? But I guess bringing newer fso-frameworkd snapshot would also involve bringing more of these Vala-reimplemented components with it, and the stability of all of that is not maybe for daily care-free phone usage? -Timo _______________________________________________ Smartphones-userland mailing list Smartphones-userland@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/smartphones-userland
