I can't reproduce this setup, as I don't have any USB phones/modems around...
What I can see is that your PDU and my PDU are the same, so this does not seem to be an SMSLib encoding issue. I will sound a bit paranoid here, but could you test with RxTx instead of JavaComm v3???
