Sorry to go on with this saga. I wrote in last week or so about some problems I was having with my firewire external hard drive. It's a western digital 1tb with mini usb, esata and 2 firewire 800 ports and external power. My Imac no longer sees the drive when it's connected with the bundled 800 to 800 cable either on the desktop or in the system profiler. When I attach the drive via usb, it sees the drive and mounts it with all the usual functionality I had before things went wrong. If I attach the drive with the bundled 800 to 400 firewire cable that came with it, the system profiler sees the drive attached but doesn't mount it on the desktop. In both instances of using the 800/800 and then the 800/400 cables, the power functionality of the firewire cable seems to be working - unfortunately it would appear something is wrong with the data functionality. As I said in my last message, I have no other devices that connect with firewire 800. I do have a pair of lacie speakers that connect with firewire 400 and they operate fine. Help!
