Try rebooting holding shift to boot up in safe mode, which will delete any 
temporary files, then do a normal restart and see if you're able to get to the 
iCloud system preferences pane. If you can, sign out of iCloud and back in 
again.

What is it with iCloud?  Are other Smugger being driven mad by it?   Googling

occasion I got through to the iCloud page but when I clicked on account 
management, everything stuck even the daisy wheel.  Anybody else having this
