Hi all,

Very weird one.

I’ve had my iPod touch 5th generation almost since they were released and never
had a problem charging it. Last night I went to charge it and the lightning
cable would not fit in the socket!

Mindful of a similar issue when I could not get the headphones in due to fluff
in the socket, I checked the inside of the socket but it all seems fine. I’ve
looked under a magnifying glass and in the direct sun this morning and it does
seem as though the contacts are not visible as though something may have
somehow covered the inside end of the socket!

Needless to say, it was fine when I charged it previously with no hint of
trouble.

In case I needed to attempt to sell it (for parts?) I tried to log out of
iCloud but the battery died ... and of course I can’t charge it!

Is it repairable and would that make any financial sense or should I destroy it
(ouch 😥) as I can’t wipe it?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Regards,

Stephen
