What’s the modification date on the swapfile0 file within the /vm folder? If 
it’s very old then should be safe to delete, if recent then something’s 
creating a virtual memory file there which would be very odd. In that case I’d 
just make the folder invisible with the following terminal command:

chflags hidden /vm

Did a reinstall and nothing changed. Ran Disk Utility and nothing changed the 
vm (lower case) file is still there. I had a long ‘chat’ with a senior Apple 
adviser. After 40 minutes I suggested maybe a Genius appointment would be a 
better approach she agreed (with gusto!) so I have a Genius appointment for 
lunchtime.
