That's just the way the rules of evidence work.  All that is allowed at the
prelim is for the prosecution to present its case.  The defense is not
allowed to defend.

Well why do they feel it shouldn't be brought into play yet. Why waste the
tax payers money on a trial if there doesn't need to be one.
