Denmark:  Type of Government: The Kingdom of Denmark is today a constitutional monarchy. The symbolic chief of state is the queen or king. The only real power in that position lies in the ability to appoint the prime minister (who is the head of the government) and the cabinet ministers. These officials represent the true power in government. There is one legislative body, the 179-seat Folketing.

Norway:  TYPE OF GOVERNMENT: Norway is a constitutional monarchy. The chief of state in Norway is King Harald V, who has been reigning since January 1991. The head of government is Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who has been in power since March 2000. Following parliamentary elections, the leader of the majority party or leader of the party coalition is usually appointed Prime Minister by the monarchy with the approval of the Parliament. There is both a judicial and legislative branch in Norway. The legislative branch is only one house, however it does divide itself into two chambers at times and all members are elected.
