I've heard about Albatros doing their d/s over water thing for quite a while, but do 
any birds actually do the behind-the-hill type
dynamic soaring that we do?  I've never seen a hawk or a crow do this sort of thing, 
at least not in an obvious way.  I have seen
small birds, like finches, dart very quickly across the ridge line, so perhaps they 
are using it for an extra burst of speed.  OTOH,
they might be just chasing bugs.
