Thanks Tom for your reply to my message. Well I checked it out and I made
sure that the Stylus was set up correctly regarding the switch assignments.
Yes, they were setup correctly. No unwanted assignments were made. I will
be sending out the tranny to be serviced. I hope that it won't be too long
before I get it back from Airtronics.

I knew that I was taking a gamble when I bought the tranny second hand over
the Internet and figured I would save a few bucks over a new unit. Looks
like it didn't work out like I wanted it to I will be paying more than I
really wanted. "Let the buyer beware".

Aloha to all on RCSE

Dear Glide,

Although there is a high likelyhood that your transmitter needs to be
re-calibrated, there is one area that you should check before sending your
Stylus to Airtronics.

I am ASSUMING that you are using the 2A2FER wing-type AND your elevator
dual rate switch is on the left, front switch (switch #13/#14).

First, make sure that the vtail is NOT enabled. Even though the
Mini-Ellipse has a vtail, you are only using the elevator function and
don't want vtail. Disabling the vtail helps simplify the troubleshooting
process.

Second, scroll to the switch menu (SW) and view the following switch
sub-menus to make sure that switch #13 or #14 do NOT appear (are not
assigned) in ANY of the following: LAUNCH, REFLEX, GEAR, AUX, E-PST1,
E-PST2, AUT-OFST, C-MIX1, C-MIX2, C-MIX3, CB->EL, and EL->CB.

Third, if switch #13 or #14 are found assigned in any of the above switch
menu items, disable the particular assignment and re-check the elevator
offset due to elevator D/R switch actuation.

If no switch assignments are found in the above switch menu items, find a
sturdy box, insure your Stylus for replacement cost, then send it off to
Airtronics. While it is gone, you will be able to experience what it feels
like to wait for the snow to melt from the ground ;-)

BTW, if you do have to send it back, ask the folks at Airtronics to check
the condition of the internal lithium cell as this battery's level can drop
causing software pointers and values (i.e. stick calibration values, etc.)
to be scrambled (affecting centering). Unlike JR's radios, the Stylus will
NOT warn you or indicate that this battery is low.

Good luck,

Stylus Boy wondering how much Derek Boyer will pay for a spot in Phoenix..
