The problem here is NiMH cells, nothing will happen to NiCd cells, in fact a NiMH charger is better for the NiCd cells than is a NiCd charger because it has a more sensitive overvoltage detect.
All chargers except the Sirius charge line use Delta peak detection, in other words they all overcharge the cells to find a peak. OVERCHARGE is the number one killer of ALL batteries.
The Sirius Charge line is the only PEAK PREDICTION charger on the market. It is the SAFEST there is for both NiCd and NiMH cells, PERIOD.
