>From a technical perspective, the plan you have in mind should work.  Mobile
satellite products are now being developed with Wi-Fi capabilities built-in.
So, repeating the signal some distance from the news van should be fine.

Your only issues will be that of any other long distance link: line of
sight, signal strength, client antennas, etc.

Also, satellite internet is pretty fast if you are willing to pay for it.  A
news van should be able to handle a dish that can beam up 768-1.1 Mbps
without trouble.
