Not a greenhorn question. can't remember ever needing to do this exercise for wlan admin purposes. but going through the steps and busting a key on your own box illustrates the value of learning how to set up a ttls solution with certificate exchange or at least switching to better crypto. - Geoff

I hope I don't sound like a complete "greenhorn" here, but I have to ask, could you give some examples where one would need to crack a WEP Key?
Locked out of a router?
I have been following this list for some time now and watched the meetings via web cast. I know there are applications for WEP key cracking but I'm so new to networking I'm not sure what they would be.
