Expertise is a matter of degree. No doubt Christian has progressed from
a simple end user to having a lot more knowledge in some areas than most
end users.

Operating systems are in layers so to some extent its a matter of
definition. The kernel which deals with the hardware at the lowest level
and then layers that manage applications etc. Its why Richard Stallman
wants people to refer to GNU/Linux. Linux is the Kernel, most of the
rest is the work of GNU and they get a bit miffed that they don't get
any recognition.

If you try Mandrake I can give you some help by E-mail. I learnt what I
know by trial and error and I haven't had too many problems. I'm no
Linux guru, but usually I can keep things going OK. I have just added a
new hard drive so I'm learning a bit more about mount points etc. There
are plenty of people to give you a hand so just go for it.

I have just finished writing a tutorial style set of lessons for the
Bronze INGOT so I can E-mail it to you. Its based on OOo2.0 running on
Windows XP. If you can do everything in the 10 lessons you can also get
a Bronze INGOT certificate. Then I can make you an assessor and you can
do the same for other people. You could even run courses and make a bit
of money teaching people the basic of OOo.

Get him to become an INGOT assessor then and add to his business
portfolio.
