Why add more to it? Because the "few people" who think it is too big have options. AbiWord is the first one that comes to mind, but there are plenty others out there. KOffice, if you use Linux. IWork or AppleWorks if you use Mac. There's always MS Works for Windows - or just MS Word....

Wait a minute, did I miss something? Chad, aren't you the one who always complains that OOo is too bloated with too many options and this and that, and you want to add more to it?

Having too many choices for each little nit-picky thing is different than having more functionality. I don't consider having to click through 47 different screens just to find the word count added functionality - but I do consider having a bitmap editor added functionality. These are two different subjects.

I was complaining about a messed confusing interface then. Now I'm talking about adding programs all with a similiar looking and feeling interface as each other. If you look back through this thread, though, at one point I said Mozilla, being the more popular and successfully cross-platform of the projects, should head it up. Therefore, the consistant interface would *not* be based on OOo's maze of dialog boxes and similar sounding choices (Is Word Count under Properties, Preferences, or Options....?) But on Firefox's beautiful, simple, themeable interface...

I skimmed a lot of this thread, so maybe I miss the point, I apologize now if I did, but doesn't this contradict your earlier comments. \

No, it doesn't. You were mistaken.

Now, I agree that the *download* is too big. I agree that you *should* be able to download *just* Writer if you wanted to. But saying that we should never add anything is wrong.

What about if you download an installer and the pick what you want to install and then it installs, similar to cygwin or some other products.

Yes - that would be good. I like Daniel's idea of a library type set up. But, I hasten to add, that I understand that would require a complete rewrite of OOo, and will never happen.
