Sorry, that's just their terminology. You download a model which is divided into 72 time periods called "trickles". When you finish a trickle, your client informs the server and you get a credit so you can show your friends. They idea is so people don't have to wait 6 weeks to see progress.

It looks like, for one of the sulphur cycle models, my computer (2.5 GHz, Intel, Linux) should finish a trickle in a day or so. I got this model runing 18 hours ago, so I hope to see my first credit come in today :)
