I've long agreed with you! I personally think that petroleum is one area where the REAL costs (having been in the Adirondacks before and after acid rain) is far too low. It's an inherent problem with the free-market system. How can a system based on greed properly arrive at true-cost?

I guess it's like democracy. A pretty poor system, but much better than the alternatives?
