Since slcan is supported by the mainline kernel, what about creating an extra project can-utils, introduce version number and start include it in various distributions?
I've seen packages for Suse https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=i686-can-utils&project=home%3Aolh%3Across, but what about other distributions?
