I was installing my net5501-70 with the new debian wheezy via PXE,
the same method i'm used to for the earlier distributions.

I got the pxe boot ok, and installed ok with the usual quirks due to
correctly setup the serial console; no problem here.

The problem i have is that when booting the grub2 this debian
installation has (grub1 is deprecated and not available; lilo
while present is confusing himself and cannot boot due to some
drive CHS remap.)

what is interesting is that the thing is *not* os-related, the linux
kernel isn't even loaded.

The grub2 boot loader hangs before even presenting the menu it should.

i researched and found there was a bug in the grub2 (resolved more than
1yr ago) avout pci bridges, so i removed the 4-port ethernet in order to
have just one pci bus just to test but it doesn't resolve the problem.

the debian installer files are those of 3 days ago, packages are got
directly from mirrors via network so they are at the last releases.

The very stange fact is that when i have removed the grub.cfg file and
rebooted (then grub should have dropped me at a prompt) this is not
happening, suggesting some bios or hardware initialization issue.

I then updated the board from bios 1.32 to 1.33c (the last available
on soekris site just in case, after i read some other stories in internet
about a dell machine having the same problem and resolving by a bios upgrade.

Someone has ideas on how to resolve this or just how to perform a meaningful
debug session? I just hate when someting hangs without saying anything. grrr. :)

Thank you all.
 Andrea
