doh!

yeah, putting the whole thing in a NON simulated tree works much better...
live and learn

thanks guys

That's probably because you have a Simulation operator stack marker. If you
have one, things below it only evaluate on the first frame.

Anyway, you can already do this effect without simulation and without custom
stuff using "Move Points Outside Geometry", which comes with Softimage
(since 2012 or so, I think -- anyway it's part of Phil's ICE Pack if you
don't already have it.)

The only thing that doesn't do is let you push beyond the actual surface (so
there's some space between), but that's trivial to hack into it (or you
could clone your egg and scale it up a bit, and use that for the ICE input.)

Any particular reason to have it simed? Looks like something that would work
just as good with an unsimed tree.

I don't know, maybe something about your blend?
without that it seems ok:

im sure this is something everyone has done at some time, im pushing an egg

need the tube to bulge where the egg is... and then shrink back to original
diameter after egg has passed....

i have a setup i nice that works fine, until i want to increase the egg
size/push amount

i'm getting crazy discrepancies in the values, resulting in horrible
deformations

attached screen of icetree, can anyone show me where im being an idiot??

thanks
