Yes, the same, except for the filter.

For example: 

http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=fish
returns:
....<result name="response" numFound="2" start="0">etc.... (followed by 2
docs)

http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=fish+type:idea
returns:
....<result name="response" numFound="9" start="0">..... (followed by 9
docs)
