Daniel,

Do you hear that dull, constant, rhythmic banking noise in the background?

That is me banging my head against a concrete wall. :)

Originally, I presented a SURBL-related question/request to Jeff Chan. The
question did not have anything to do with SpamAssassin (other than the fact
that SpamAssassin now works with SURBL). Jeff was very nice to me and he
forwarded this question to a couple of groups. One of these was the
SpamAssassin Developers group. Even though my question had nothing to do
with SpamAssassin, I think that Jeff was just thinking that someone in the
SpamAssassin Developers group might have something of interest to add.... a
very reasonable assumption.

Certainly, NO one "owes me" anything and I am very grateful for any and all
help that I get. Also, as I said before, any guidance that I receive will
help others in the future and will only promote the SURBL.

Having said all this, I suspect that you have misunderstood my request and,
to be sure, my needs have nothing to do with SpamAssassin. In fact,
SpamAssassin-centric answers are absolutely worthless to me at this point. I
appreciate you taking the time out to answer this request... but I think
that there has been a misunderstanding here. Therefore, please just ignore
me unless you have something to share regarding my original question.

Daniel, sorry to have taken up your time. I'm sure that you were sincerely
trying to help me and I appreciate your kindness.

Now, if anyone else has something to add which DOES answer my original
question... I'd much appreciate the feedback.

Sincerely,

Rob McEwen

If you want to go with a regular expression based approach, you might
want to look at some older SpamAssassin releases before we added the
HTML parser (I think that happened in 2.50).

Well, that's a SURBL discussion, not a SpamAssassin one. ;-)

Now might be a good time to point out that SpamAssassin, *especially*
the forthcoming SpamAssassin 3.0 release is an excellent platform for
filtering. SA 3.0 has a plug-in architecture that allows additional
methods like SURBL and SPF to easily hook-in. Figuring out stuff like
how to do MIME and HTML for adversial targets like spam is very hard and
I'm a big believer in not reinventing the wheel, so if you can, I
encourage everyone to make use of the SpamAssassin platform in this way.

Daniel
