Three suggestions straight off: 
        icewm
        wmx  (for minimalists)
        enligtenment

Also of course
        olvwm

It may seem odd to include enlightenment but the current one loaded with a 
sane theme is fairly friendly on memory usage and enlightenment does
dithering and sensible colour management
