So I changed the Value_When_Red attribute on all my pingables (I suppose I would have to use the model editor to make this the default behavior for pingables added later?) from 0 to 1 and that worked.
You can use the Policy Manager to automatically set the Value_When_Red, without touching the model catalog. It's simple and effective.
The models did go red and alarms/tickets were dropped. Now, is it possible to have a pingable go to a minor (yellow) alarm instead of a critical (red) alarm? I was hoping that using a 1 instead of a 7 would have done that, but I realize now why that doesnt work.
I think you can use the Event Configuration to override the Event for a model type (i.e. Pingable) to raise a Minor alarm instead of Critical.
