I have found slow OC response can be caused by: 1. OC server is a VM guest with too low of resources. 2. User created issues see below 3. Modeling cpu race condition 4. Network problems between OC server and SpectroSERVER 5. SpectroSERVER Server responsiveness 6. Network problems between your work station and OC server 7. Your workstation responsiveness Typically, you will see delays and at times you will get the red box painted around your screen.
CPU race: I have seen this when Spectrum is doing a discovery using the discovery console. When it is on the modeling phase the cpu of my Linux RedHat server will be pegged at 99% on the SpectroSERVER process. Once it is done doing whatever it is doing which can take 10-15 minutes then the cpu will come down and the OC console connection will improve. You can also be modeling and not even be aware of it if you have your VNM set to model on interface changes. User issues: Also, you can have this problem with a bad Locator search, GC that has the same issue as a bad locator, and if you have any that are set to "Real Time Update". I do not know the root cause of the Modeling issue other ones are user created issues. Occasionally OneClick is VERY slow in updating the views when I delete models. (Sometimes takes 10 minutes for the model to disappear off the displays) I am not sure if the this situation is related to the following problem. Today I am setting up a remote server (TESTremote) and created a remote connector back to my Central Sever. On my Central Server I see the server show up in the Remote Operations Server List sub-view. Then I created a Real-Time Global Container with the following Search parameter: RemoteOperationsServerName (0x5400000) Starts With "TEST" None of the devices show up in the Global Collection. Then I realized that I did not delete the models from the central server. Do not know if that meant anything or not, but it took almost 15 minutes for the models to disappear completely off the views. Then I re-established the remote connector and again, the server again shows up on the Remote Operations Server List sub-view and nothing else populates. I can manually run the search that I listed above and everything showed up. I have accomplished the same setup on a different network and had zero issues and the results were fairly immediate. Any Ideas? Thanks! Stephen Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO --- To unsubscribe from spectrum, send email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe spectrum [email protected]
