Because of the performance hit the OC server takes with this functionality turned on, we have disabled it out of the box with hotfix H07. The release note for H07 also explains this and how to turn it on if you need it. We will introduce a code change to address this issue in the 9.2.2 (H08) release coming in the second half of 2012. -- Rene' René Cantwell CA Technologies Support Delivery Manager Tel: +1-603-334-2497 or +1 877-428-6324 Fax: +1-603-334-2540 [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Schroeder, Stephen G CIV (US) [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 3:16 PM To: Cantwell, Rene D; spectrum Subject: RE: Extremely Slow Updating in OneClick (UNCLASSIFIED) Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO This solution worked! Thanks!! -----Original Message----- From: Cantwell, Rene D [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 2:46 PM To: spectrum Subject: RE:[spectrum] Extremely Slow Updating in OneClick (UNCLASSIFIED) This knowledge doc may help you: Document ID: TEC563865 Tech Document Title: Spectrum OneClick performance problems and intermittent connectivity for OneClick client sessions Description: Problem: After upgrading to Spectrum 9.2.1 and/or hotfix patch H06 for 9.2.1, some users have experienced overall slowness in OneClick, and no performance dumps are being created for the SpectroSERVER. Symptoms: Tomcat utilizing 100% CPU utilization, OneClick hanging, overall slowness, and intermittent connections to the OneClick console. The OneClick console connectivity is continuously bouncing between a connected state and disconnected state. Resulting in a red box around the OneClick Client. Cause: Inefficiency with the Chassis Manager code in rendering the data in Spectrum OneClick. Solution: The workaround for this problem is to disable the Chassis Manager node by commenting out the Chassis Manager section in $SPECROOT/tomcat/webapps/spectrum/WEB-INF/topo/config/topo-app-config.xml file. 1. Make a backup of the $SPECROOT/tomcat/webapps/spectrum/WEB-INF/topo/config/topo-app-config.xml file. 2. Edit $SPECROOT/tomcat/webapps/spectrum/WEB-INF/topo/config/topo-app-config.xml by placing the Chassis Manager comment tag (<!--Chassis Manager -->) around the Chassis Manager portion of the XML code. 3. Find the following portion of XML code. <custom-root-node> <type t="mtype">0x104aa</type> <!-- Chassis Manager --> <child-list> <child extraargs="mtype=0x104ac,rel=0x10048,side=left"> com.aprisma.spectrum.app.topo.client.hierarchy.CustomNodeTraversalGatherer </child> </child-list> </custom-root-node> 4. Edit the section of code so the entire section is commented out, by moving the comment tag's open statement at the beginning of the section, and the close statement at the end of the section. <!-- Chassis Manager <custom-root-node> <type t="mtype">0x104aa</type> <child-list> <child extraargs="mtype=0x104ac,rel=0x10048,side=left"> com.aprisma.spectrum.app.topo.client.hierarchy.CustomNodeTraversalGatherer </child> </child-list> </custom-root-node> --> 5. Restart OneClick Tomcat and all OneClick Client Consoles. Occasionally OneClick is VERY slow in updating the views when I delete models. (Sometimes takes 10 minutes for the model to disappear off the displays) I am not sure if the this situation is related to the following problem. Today I am setting up a remote server (TESTremote) and created a remote connector back to my Central Sever. On my Central Server I see the server show up in the Remote Operations Server List sub-view. Then I created a Real-Time Global Container with the following Search parameter: RemoteOperationsServerName (0x5400000) Starts With "TEST" None of the devices show up in the Global Collection. Then I realized that I did not delete the models from the central server. Do not know if that meant anything or not, but it took almost 15 minutes for the models to disappear completely off the views. Then I re-established the remote connector and again, the server again shows up on the Remote Operations Server List sub-view and nothing else populates. I can manually run the search that I listed above and everything showed up. I have accomplished the same setup on a different network and had zero issues and the results were fairly immediate. Any Ideas? Thanks!
