We had a utility deem their supply unreliable at the last minute and the
local AHJ and our FPE to agreed that, with some controller mods for slightly
delayed start, a natural gas fired generator could be used as the SOLE
source of power. The local AHJ deemed the natural gas supply to be reliable.

Kudos for the Joslyn-Clark rep and factory that resolved the necessary mods,
assisted with approvals, and had it onsite in a week- out Fri PM for a Sat
AM delivery onsite, acceptance test Monday. Some days you need supportive
vendors and professionals that can jump thru hoops !

Subject: back-up power

I am working on a project where an electric fire pump (diesel not an
option) and tank is the only source of water for the sprinkler
system. The primary supply is the public utility and the back-up is
to come from an on-site generator. The builder is proposing to use a
propane-fired generator. I looked in NFPA 20 and 110 and didn't see
anything saying this was a no-no. Is there a problem with this arrangement?
